The Challenge: Scaling Governed Insights Across a Global Field Force
With over thousands of field representatives across 27 countries, Pfizer’s mission is clear: provide breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. To enable that mission, the organization delivers accurate, round-the-clock analytics for its customer‑facing teams.
Pfizer recognized that data was the backbone of its decision-making process, but field representatives could not always access consistent information wherever they worked. Its bulk reporting was useful, but static and divided across multiple BI tools. Field specialists needed reliable access to insights, including in locations with limited connectivity, but the static nature of the reports could not support Pfizer’s goals.
Pfizer began building its relationship with Strategy nearly 20 years ago, establishing a shared semantic foundation that would support its long-term vision: to redefine healthcare analytics and deliver governed, real-time insights at the point of decision.
“Strategy is a true partner in our journey to make information available to all of our stakeholders.”
Inigo Aznar
Director of Analytics Strategy, Pfizer
The Strategy: Building One Governed Foundation for Global Analytics
The Foundation
Pfizer immediately identified Strategy’s governed semantic layer as a key differentiator in its analytics transformation.
It gave Pfizer a common place to define business rules, KPIs, and relationships. This reduced the need to recreate logic across reports and helped keep leadership and field reporting aligned.

The Solution
This foundation enabled Pfizer and Strategy to develop a common global reporting solution. Instead of creating a separate dashboard for every market, Pfizer developed reusable reporting templates that could be adapted across regions.
Their embedded design allowed Pfizer to scale reporting while preserving the flexibility to localize content for individual markets.
The Differentiation
Strategy’s dashboards were optimized for iPads, supported offline access through caching, and incorporated multiple languages into shared global templates.
Because self-service and ad hoc reports were built on the same governed semantic layer, temporary or market-specific reporting needs could be introduced without rebuilding the business logic.
The Application
Through Strategy's mobile analytics, Pfizer's field representatives received a 360-degree view of healthcare providers, including sales trends, activity, relevant messaging, and territory context.
This helped them optimize provider conversations without working through multiple disconnected BI systems.
“At Pfizer, we went from hours to minutes to seconds to be able to generate insights.”
Joseph Simrany
Director of Integrated Insights & Strategy, Pfizer
Faster Insights, Higher Adoption, and an AI-Ready Future
The Impact
Strategy's governed semantic layer enables Pfizer's leadership and field reporting to rely on the same business rules and KPIs.
Rather than spending time reconciling conflicting reports, representatives could focus on integrated insights in their provider conversations. Mobile and offline access meant those insights remained available wherever field teams worked, including places with limited connectivity.
The Future
Pfizer plans to expand AI across its existing reporting experience rather than treat AI as a separate novelty.
The pharmaceutical leader is expanding its use of Strategy's AI agents while exploring automated storytelling, pre-call summaries, predictive analytics, and geolocation-supported recommendations.
The Long-Term Vision
Pfizer’s long-term goal is to generate more insight from the data it already has while improving productivity for analysts, field teams, and other users.
That means expanding consistent reporting across markets, embedding AI into established workflows, and continuing to co-innovate with Strategy around new user needs.
“[With Strategy], we're going to generate more insights off the data we have, which means productivity gains for analysts, our field force, and anyone using those capabilities.”
